About LulaKate

In 2003, Katherine Mullins McDonald, from Charlotte, NC, realized she would never be truly happy climbing the corporate ladder. With $300 in her bank account, a heavy dose of stubborness, and the immense support of family & friends,she bravely set out as a fashion designer. Inspired by her great-grandmother, “Lula” and her own would-be-nickname, Katherine established “LulaKate” and her first trunk show was held in June 2003. She first started working on her own sewing machine in her studio apartment on King Street in Charleston, South Carolina. In five years, Katherine Mullins McDonald has taken LulaKate from trunk shows of homeade skirts to producing four collections a year andbranching out into several boutiques across the Southeast. Katherine also launched LulaKate Bridal in 2007. Katherine is an active member of her community, donates nationally and locally, mentors local youth, and regularly visits schools to talk to students about entrepeneurship and encourage them to follow their dreams. Today, LulaKate can be found on stylish women throughout the United States and the world…and especially in South Carolina where the dream began!
